"Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it"

This is one of my favorite quotes from the movie Ferris Bueller's Day off because it is so true.

Things happen to us throughout our lifetime that make us feel stuck, worthless, guilty, shamed, and like we are never enough. These ideas about ourselves dictate the way we learn, how we do in school and work, and how we love and connect to others. When someone has experienced trauma, these thoughts and feelings can be even more extreme which can cause significant distress.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families that have experienced trauma. Trauma is different for every person from sexual abuse to losing a loved one to being yelled at as a young child. The approach I take is creating a warm, safe place for my clients to be heard and validated.

I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and passion for working with gender non-conforming or questioning youth and adults. This can be a sensitive subject and can be confusing and isolating not only for the person going through it but for the family as well. Individual, family and group counseling can help the process not feel so lonely by building support and understanding.

I am a certified EMDR therapist, and yoga teacher. I graduated from Kean University with a masters in clinical mental health counseling. Since 2012 I have been working in the mental health field in various settings including therapeutic schools, in-home therapy, residential, domestic violence and sexual assault agencies and PHP/ IOP. I have a thorough understanding of the systems of care that are in place in NJ and can help clients get where they need to be to live a life of empowerment.
