About
Things happen to us throughout our lifetime that make us feel stuck, worthless, guilty, shamed, and like we are never enough. These ideas about ourselves dictate the way we learn, how we do in school and work, and how we love and connect to others. When someone has experienced trauma, these thoughts and feelings can be even more extreme which can cause significant distress.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families that have experienced trauma. Trauma is different for every person from sexual abuse to losing a loved one to being yelled at as a young child. The approach I take is creating a warm, safe place for my clients to be heard and validated.
I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and passion for working with gender non-conforming or questioning youth and adults. This can be a sensitive subject and can be confusing and isolating not only for the person going through it but for the family as well. Individual, family and group counseling can help the process not feel so lonely by building support and understanding.
